About Urban Muse
Who I am.. an artist.
Prior to becoming a self taught metalsmith and designer of my own jewelry, I was, like many women, working a 9 - 5 job. Unfortunately for me, during my 20 plus years in the corporate world I faced a lot of sexual harassment and it almost killed my soul.
Instead, I found my inner artist. I also came to believe we all have an inner artist inside us... some can sing, others are poets, and still others are storytellers. There are those that can paint and others who can draw. There are builders and those that can grow flowers so beautiful you want to weep. So many different artists. So many unrealized artists.. who have not discovered their own potential. Open up!
It's about recognizing that every facet of your life can contain wonder and that inspiration can lie in unlikely places.
Your attention and awareness are the most valuable things that you have! Never allow others to fill up that space with negativity!
You're making choices that point towards wonder, instead of making you numb. Don't walk.. RUN!
Feel the fear and do it anyway! Don't worry about perfection.. it's not that interesting anyway!
I know, and I'm okay knowing that as an artist, I'm flawed, and imperfect, and awkward. I'm plagued with insecurities. But the fact that I'm insecure doesn't mean that I shouldn't make art. On the contrary, it means that, like everyone else I too, am sensitive, alive, and deeply human. But I'm willing to share my whole, imperfect self in my work. I can share my fears and embarrassing insecurities. I'm okay sharing my desire to be liked and the trauma I carry. I share with you all my own unique brokenness. I promise, this won't take away from my work. Perhaps it will resonate with those of you who share these same feelings.
I subscribe to the Japanese term:
"Wabi Sabi" which, essentially means finding beauty in imperfection or, as I like to say, "Perfectly Imperfect". This is a way not only to describe my approach to making jewelry but approach towards life as well.
Live life loud!

A lot of my beads and pendants are ethically sourced and purchased second-hand from priests, and many of these hand-crafted materials are made by Tibetan and Ethiopian refugees. This bead trade is their source of money, which goes to feeding their people. These people have lived and traded for hundreds of years without ever being exposed to today’s world, and I feel incredibly fortunate to be able to purchase amazing items from this amazing community and be able to give back to them. Perhaps this is an unconventional approach to purchasing materials and selling items, but it’s all very personal to me.
Every piece I sell is made with great care, and I take great pride in offering the highest quality products to my customers. My mission is to help you find the perfect rings and earrings to fit your heart’s desires. Take a look at the selection and don’t hesitate to get in touch for more information.
